DMC Leadership
Our Mission
DMC was made to create an organization in which men of color can interact and grow as a community, our goal is to equip these individuals with the means and resources needed in order to thrive in the college setting. We plan to do so by providing academic advice from other successful members and faculty, insight into how to navigate the undergraduate years, means to professional development and most importantly, provide a brotherhood of students striving together. By providing a close community of minority men working towards the same goal, this will allow us to connect with incoming college students in order to enlarge our community and bond. A critical aspect of our organization is our commitment to community service, this is shown by our consistent mentoring at nearby underserved public schools, our volunteering in the local Richmond community, and our participation in service events held by other organizations.
Professional Academy
At the Professional Academy, we transform career readiness for men of color through peer-to-peer mentoring in personalized 30-40 minute sessions. Our approach connects students with mentors who've already found success in similar paths, creating authentic connections and advice that resonates. In a relaxed setting, we help polish resumes with both technical fixes and strategic improvements that catch recruiters' eyes. We overhaul LinkedIn profiles on the spot and take professional headshots to replace awkward selfies. Our mentors share real-world insights about what actually works in job searches, not just theory. We've addressed practical barriers by offering free tie rentals and shoe shining services because we know these details matter but aren't always accessible. Every participant leaves with clear next steps and resources to continue their professional growth. We've built a program that bridges the gap between classroom learning and workplace success, giving men of color not just better documents, but greater confidence and community support as they launch their careers.

How To Join Mentoring
Get started with just a few Steps
Express Interest: Notify any E-Board Member or Committee Chair about the opportunity to become a mentor (A google form is always sent out near the beginning of the semester)
Attend Orientation: an orientation session session for potential mentors to provide an overview of the mentoring program, its goals, and the expectations for mentors will be sent out via email, GroupMe, and at GBMs
Submit Application & Background Check: Provided through CIS

Join us for our 2nd general body meeting of the semester to learn more about DMC and engage with our community.

We’re happy to announce the DMC 5v5 Basketball Tournament! Pair up with your best players and fight through the tournament to claim victory! We’ll be providing a generous cash prize to the victorious team, so be sure to give it your all!

With a focus on Basketball, Soccer, and Dodgeball, DMC provides a safe and inclusive environment for young men to learn, grow, and build relationships through athletic competition. The organization's mission is to empower young men with the skills and confidence to succeed both on and off the field, and to help them become positive role models in their communities. With its commitment to excellence and dedication to the well-being of its participants, DMC is making a lasting impact on the lives of young men of color.
